Rob Reiner’s Son Arrested After Director and Wife Found Dead at Los Angeles Home

Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found deceased in their Los Angeles residence on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in what law enforcement officials are investigating as a suspected homicide.

The couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was taken into custody and has been arrested in connection with the deaths, according to Los Angeles Police Department sources. Nick is currently being held with bail set at $4 million as the investigation continues. Authorities from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division are leading the case and have not yet released additional details on charges or motive.

Rob Reiner, 78, was a prominent figure in American cinema whose career spanned decades and included directing beloved films like This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally…, and The Princess Bride. He also enjoyed success as an actor and producer, contributing significantly to both film and television.

Michele Singer Reiner, 68, worked in photography and production and was active in supporting her husband’s creative projects and philanthropic efforts.

Their son, Nick Reiner, has spoken publicly in the past about his struggles with substance abuse and periods of homelessness. In 2016, he co-wrote the film Being Charlie, a drama inspired in part by his personal experiences with addiction and recovery.

News of the deaths has sent shockwaves through Hollywood and sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues remembering the Reiners’ contributions to entertainment and the arts.
